Brenn took the lead next to Samantha. Grace and Archie were lagging a bit behind.
Brenn yawned. "Perhaps we could speed this up. I'm a Phoenix, so I could carry someone. Anyone else have wings?"

Samantha chuckled, more than ten feet in front of almost everyone else. She was near a small hill. There were rocks to hide behind on the hill, so she tensed as she got closer. She was about one foot past the start of the hill when something sent rocks clattering down. A mouse skittered off, but Samantha remained still. (BTW, it's some guards.  ) |

She quickly grew ears and a tail. The tail was straight, signaling that she was preparing to attack. Her ears were drawn back in anger and suspicion.

"Patrolling for runaways, I presume," Brenn says, growing small, fiery wings. "We can bypass them. If we fly at the right angle, the guard won't see us." Brenn grabs onto Aiden without another word. "Hold on," was all she said. She shot into the sky.

A guard appeared from one of the rocks. It threw a spear straight at Samantha. Her eyes narrowed in fear and pain as the tip pierced her shoulder. It didn't go all the way through, luckily. She fell to the ground, onto her knees, clutching her shoulder. The guard was both surprised that he had done it, yet happy. He scrambled down, some other guards looking at them. They didn't notice Aiden or Brenn, but they noticed everyone else.

Samantha's shoulder was oozing out blood. If she did not get help soon, she could get infected or get killed by one of the guards.
